/ Award Terms & Conditions
- There are no restrictions based on training or nationality.
- The artist must be 16 years or over.
- Should be resident within the Yorkshire Region at the time of entry.
- Must not have exclusive representation.
- The Artist should not yet have established a reputation as an artist amongst art curators, buyers, critics and administrators.
- Can submit the idea for one piece of art, using any medium for wall hanging or pedestal or floor based sculpture e.g. drawing, mixed media, acrylic, oil, watercolour, sculpture, etc.
- Should provide up to 3 supporting images of their own work to represent the intended style of the completed work and up to 3 supporting images that support the idea for the submission piece.
- The artwork proposal should represent the subject of METAMORPHOSIS.
- Must be the owner and the work submitted if shortlisted is of their own origination. The Artist must hold all moral and intellectual property rights.
- By submitting the entry form, The Artist accepts that any idea for artwork, if successful in stage 1, must then submit the completed original artwork that is based upon the proposal chosen by the judges to stage 2 of the award.
- The organisers will not be liable for any loss or damage to any artworks physically submitted at any point in the prize, however caused, either in transit to and from the exhibition, or during any period of storage, packing or unpacking, exhibition or in any period in which the work is in their keeping.
- We recommend that The Artist takes out insurance to cover the artwork, especially in transit and while at the organisers or exhibition venues.
- The Artist accept that if shortlisted, the work submitted will be available for sale in the exhibition(s) and on our website until the end of the award, the artwork is collected by The Artist, and that the organisers will take a commission of 40%.
- The organiser will take payment from the buyer of the artwork and, once payment is received, will pay The Artist minus the 40% commission on total sale price.
- If The Artist is being considered for the Shortlist, The Artist will be required to read carefully and sign an Award Participation Agreement detailing their obligations for being Shortlisted and exhibited and promoted.
- Once registered for this award all Artists agree that the Scott Creative Arts Foundation may reproduce their work (at no fee) for any purposes required (including press/publicity/website and catalogue and any other printed or digital material, advertising the exhibitions and future entries), excluding for resale unless authorised by the artist.
- In the interests of fairness and impartiality, if any applicant contacts any of the judges prior to the announcement of the final decision their entry will be disqualified.
Proposal and Submission of Completed Artworks
- The initial proposal should include an idea of the media, style, dimensions and thought process behind the intended work.This can be supported by rough sketches or images of work of a similar type or style which may or may not be the artists original work or images from nature or the environment that support the idea submitted in the proposal.
- One completed artwork per shortlisted artist may be entered for the award.
- The proposal, supporting images and the completed entry form(s) must be submitted online, using the submission form on this website.
- The artwork submitted must be available for sale, and if shortlisted for stage 2 onwards, the chosen artwork must be available and sent in to Ornhams Hall, Boroughbridge for judging via physical submission on the required dates and remain with SCAF from the date of submission to the end of the touring exhibition periods. We will not be able to allow collection within the exhibition period. Failure to respect this can result in disqualification or revoking of the title and prize.
- Proposals received late will be invalid, unless the competition is extended for any reason, then proposals received after then but before the new extended date will be valid.
- Within 14 days after you have entered, we will confirm you have entered correctly and this is via email only. If you don't receive an email then contact us after the 14 day period.
- We do not issue any other type of acknowledgement of entry, as this is done via the entry confirmation email.
- There is no entry fee for this competition
- Works shortlisted for the next stage of judging must be sent by the dates given on the website. This information will be given to you in full in an email advising that your work has been shortlisted; artwork submitted late will not be able to be judged. An email will be sent confirming whether a work has been accepted or not, at which time collection dates will be available for those works not selected.
- If your work has been shortlisted or selected for the exhibition, it will be offered for sale for a period of time through various channels with our art dealing team (including online and offline).
- If work has been selected for the exhibition(s), these works must continue to be available until the close of the exhibitions. We will not be able to allow collection of sold or unsold artworks within the period of exhibitions.
- If you feel you have not been judged fairly after your acceptance of the conditions of entry, please send the SCAF Board of Trustees details of your complaint and the Trustees will review your complaint within 14 days.
- The Artist must arrange for their artworks to be collected from the final Touring Exhibition venue at the end of the exhibition if their artwork has not been sold, during the dates specified by the organiser (typically a 1 week period following the end of the exhibition), or they will be liable for a fee of £5 a day to cover storage costs. The organiser will notify you of these dates before the start of the exhibition.
